JOB TITLE: Studio Manager

DEPARTMENT: BFA Photography

REPORTS TO: Director of Operations and Department Chair

POSITION OVERVIEW: Responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operation of the Photography equipment cage and assisting with the general management of the Photography Department.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

ManagementSupervise full-time and part-time cage staff. Assist Director in resolving staff conflicts. Responsible for staff scheduling and the preparation and maintenance of time sheets. Assist the Director of Operations and Department Chair with screening and interviewing candidates for staff positions. Assist Director in the evaluation of staff and process annual performance reviews.

Photography Cage Oversee the day-to-day operation of the Photo cage, working with the students and faculty in a cooperative manner. Maintain equipment for student use. Maintain a barcode inventory of all equipment and assets (2x per year). Assure that materials and facilities needed for Photo classes are available and ready. Maintain a consumables inventory (weekly). Perform maintenance and repairs to the facilities and equipment (barring equipment that must be sent out for service). Ensure that equipment in need of repair is appropriately handled. Maintain chemistry for student use. Work with vendors to coordinate and accept deliveries.

Other Departmental DutiesAssist in planning for future equipment and facility needs; assist in purchasing equipment. Work with the Director and Chair to ensure class schedules match the facility availability. Assist in organizing and hanging the ?Mentor Show? and the Foundation show. Assist with Open House, recruiting and special events in the department. Act as a liaison between the Chair and the Digital Facilities. Oversee computing staff with publishing projects. Manage petty cash for the department.


QUALIFICATIONS:Familiarity with all aspects of photography including B&W, RA4 color and digital imaging. Demonstrated managerial skills. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Excellent interpersonal skills. Must be able to represent the College and department in a professional manner. Computer literacy in Mac OS (Windows NT and 2000 a plus); experience with FileMaker Pro is a plus. Good mechanical skills; basic knowledge of electric, plumbing and light construction. Ability and willingness to work overtime or weekends as necessary.
