User Interface Designer - Ask.com

Ask.com is seeking a talented, motivated and User Interface Designer to join the Ask Design Group. The Ask Design Group has been responsible for designing many innovative and leading interactive products including Smart Answers, binoculars, maps & local, MyStuff and the recent redesign of Ask.com. This role will also involve contributing to the design for bloglines.com, the market leading RSS aggregator. This person is expected to provide innovative, user-centered, information and visual design work that contribute to an enhanced user experience for the millions of users of Ask.com.


Responsibilities:


Work with Engineers and Product Managers to design and implement online products

Concept development and idea creation

Create visual design solutions that address business, brand, market, and user requirements

Production of screen layouts, color palettes, typography, user interface elements 

Manage workflow and deadlines on multiple, simultaneous projects

Requirements:



Technical Skills & Experience:


Bachelor's degree in Interaction Design, Architecture, graphic design or related field

3+ years interactive design experience

Solid portfolio with a range of creative samples that demonstrate relevant work or projects

Process-oriented with ability to work with different UI materials and rapid prototyping

Proficiency in screen layout and visual design

Proficiency with Macromedia Fireworks, or functional equivalents 

HTML, CSS AJAX and/or DHTML expertise

Any scripting experience for creating working prototypes a bonus

Solid understanding of web usability guidelines

Experience with user centered design a plus
