Qualifications:
Los Angeles Freightliner is currently seeking quality diesel technicians/mechanics to accommodate our growing service needs.  Qualified candidates will have:3+ years hands on experience as diesel technician/mechanic is shop environment.Extensive knowledge in the repair and maintenance of diesel engines & power trains.Own your own tools.Have or be able to get a CDL.Able to read, understand, & apply information from manuals & computer including trouble shooting documents.Diagnostic skills/experience & attention to detail a must.Strong verbal & documentation skillsStrong character & work ethicDependable, responsible team player with a positive attitude

 

Preference will be given to candidates withA two year Trade School diploma and two years of documented "On The Job Training" ASE Truck certification Valid CDL driver?s license and a good driving record Previous Freightliner, Sterling, Western Star or Mitsubishi experience

 

 

Primary Job Function: Technicians are responsible for performing vehicle repair and maintenance work as assigned in accordance with our in house and manufacturers' standards.

 

DUTIES MAY INCLUDE:

 Reads job orders and observes and listens to operating equipment to ensure conformance to specifications or to determine malfunctions.Verifies vehicle performance by conducting test-drives; adjusting controls and systems.Inspects defective equipment and diagnoses malfunctions, using test instruments, such as motor analyzers, chassis charts, and pressure gauges.  Attaches test instruments to equipment and read dials and gauges to diagnose malfunctions.Changes oil, checks batteries, repairs tires and tubes, and lubricates equipment and machinery.Adjusts brakes, aligns wheels, tightens bolts and screws, and reassembles equipment.Disassembles and overhauls engines, pumps, transmissions, clutches, and rear ends.Examines and adjusts protective guards, loose bolts, and specified safety devices.Inspects and verifies dimensions and clearances of parts to ensure conformance to factory specifications.Inspects, repairs, and maintains automotive and mechanical equipment and machinery, such as pumps and compressors.Operates valve-grinding machine to grind and reset valves.Reconditions and replaces parts, pistons, bearings, gears, and valves.Writes clear parts requisitions & service write-upsProperly handles warranty work including returning warranty parts to parts department.Keeps shop equipment operating by following operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns; maintaining supplies; performing preventive maintenance; calling for repairs.Enhances service department and organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
