Director of Engineering

A company in Madison Heights, Michigan is looking for a Director of Engineering.  This position will be a contract placement with possible direct hire based on performance.

 

Minimum Requirements:
BSEE or BSME
2 years experience in developing advanced manufacturing processes and machine tools.
Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
Working knowledge of various CAD systems and drafting methods
Math skills and ability commensurate with engineering applications and SPC
Competence with complex engineering drawings, prints, schematics and process charts
Experience in scheduling and project management desired
Ability to comprehend and follow ISO procedures and processes relating to job performance and quality.

 

Job Duties:
Supervise the design of custom & standard company equipment
Prioritize, assign and balance department workload
Oversee Document Control Process
Prepare correspondence, reports, charts, presentations, training and other written and verbal communications
Provide estimates to Sales for custome engineered products
Responsible for accuracy of job cost reporting and cost accruals vs. planned hours
Facilitate professional and cooperative interaction among Engineering, Sales, Procurement and Production depts.
Initiate and implement actions for continuous process improvement in scheduling, efficiency, accuracy, information flow and any other aspects of company processes and procedures.
Provide support for Engineering Group including working on individual projects.
