Engineer Specialist

Engineer Specialist Description: Initiate, direct, supervise and control specific engineering projects
within a specified area of responsibility. Manage the overall
completion of important and a complex engineering task/project.
Provides expert consultation in one or more areas for the design,
development and implementation of technical products and systems.
Recognized as technical leader and resource. Recommends alterations
and enhancements to improve quality of products and/or procedures.
Responsible for internal activities and product development.
Demonstrates expertise in a variety of the field's concepts, practices,
and procedures. Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan
and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of tasks. May provide
consultation on complex projects. A wide degree of creativity and
latitude is expected.




Requirements:
10+ years of relevant experience!!!!
High level of analytical ability where problems are unusual and
difficult* Understanding of engineering theory and principles of
design* Highly developed oral and written communications skills * Very
high level of interpersonal skills to work effectively with others*
General interest in product design, particularly automotive*
Familiarity with basic machine types* Familiarity with all design,
build and test services* Highly proficient in reading and interpreting
engineering drawings* Thorough knowledge of most advanced engineering
methods, tools, and procedures* Specialized knowledge of design,
development and test engineering, manufacturing processes, assembly
operations and Central Office functions
Engineer-Vehicle Level Diagnostics (Controlled Brakes: Diagnostics,
Communication, System Software Area) - Responsibilities - Develop
vehicle level diagnostic software requirements from OEM customer
initiatives or advanced concept for production implementation -
Develop, specify, and test serial diagnostic or serial communication
requirements - Perform prototype implementation and vehicle test
activity related to vehicle level diagnostic content - Perform
validation, verification, and checkout of production software releases
for vehicle level diagnostic content - Design and develop test plans
for vehicle level diagnostic content - Coordinate definition and
implementation of various OEM customer requirements - Note: Vehicle
Level Diagnostics includes vehicle level sensor signal processing,
related diagnostics, serial communication and diagnostics, estimation
techniques, sensor and system reasonableness test
development Required Qualifications: - Analytical skills -
Knowledge of C and assembly language programming for embedded
systems - Experience with production software for vehicle embedded
system controllers - Experience with vehicle communication protocals
(GMLAN, CAN, J1850, KW2000, etc) - Knowledge / experience with
controlled vehicle subsystems, vehicle dynamics - Ability to work
with team members of other disciplines or departments - Ability to
demonstrate technical problem solving skills / attention to detail -
Ability to perform in vehicle development as needed. Includes
occasional travel to vehicle test sites - Good oral and written
communication skills Preferred Qualifications: - Familiarity with
system safety concepts, industry failsafe standards - Familiarity
with vehicle serial protocols, physical, functional messaging,
strategy, etc - Knowledge and experience with prototyping
environments or development in Matlab/Simulink environment -
Education BS or higher in engineering discipline - Systems
engineering experience - General interest in vehicle product area
and/or embedded systems - System simulation and modeling
experience

Pay Rate: $30.00 - $35.55 Hourly DOE
