Manager, Assembly Engineering

Tower Automotive is searching for a MANAGER, ASSEMBLY ENGINEERING to join their rapidly growing Technology team at our Novi Headquarters and Technical Center.

Role Summary:
Manages team responsible for developing the manufacturing processes to assemble a wide variety of complex, high frequency components. Works engineering and manufacturing leaders to ensure new and enhanced products are developed and introduced on schedule and within budget. Assesses manufacturability of designs, identifies capital requirements, and provides process engineering support from initial design concept phase through volume production.

Responsibilities:
- Leads department staff including selection, training and performance evaluation.
- Works with design, engineering and manufacturing team to introduce new products.
- Develops manufacturing fixtures and tools for assembly lines.
- Coordinates external parts sources and subassemblies.
- Serves as critical liaison between design, die engineering and assembly departments.
- Develops and implements locator strategies for assembly systems.
- Creates and introduces piercing and notching tool systems to meet tolerances.

Requirements:
- BS in engineering, or related experience.
- Masters degree preferred.
- 5 ? 7 yeas experience with mass production, workflow design and equipment layout.
