Plant Engineer

They have an opportunity available for a Plant Engineer in their Montgomery, AL facility.

OVERVIEW:
The Manufacturing Engineering Team performs the lead roles in the areas of, but not limited to: new process development, technology evaluation and development, process improvement, process standardization, process testing, equipment building, plant safety, plant maintenance, Bill of Materials, part process routings and part quoting. The person filling this position will be involved in all of the areas above.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
?Mechanical / Machine Design:
Have general knowledge of machine mechanics. Has had associations with items or components such as: specialized tools and fixtures, pick and place units, shuttle mechanisms, cam driven devices, frames, brackets, index tables, screw mechanisms, cylinders, bearings, gears, etc. Has used AutoCad or other CAD packages.
?Manufacturing / Process improvement:
Have ability to study and understand existing processes or machines and find ways to improve by means of re-design, added design or additional training, focusing primarily on cycle time & downtime reduction and product throughput improvement.
?Process / Product Engineering:
Have knowledge of machine and/or process validation procedures, to include: process and machine capability studies, Gage R&R studies, Design and Process Failure Modes and Effects Analysis?, Work Instructions, Standard Operating Procedures, TS 16949 requirements, Advanced Product Quality Planning.
?General Capabilities:
Project management, problem solving /creativity, ability to work in a team environment, ability to carry out projects turnkey, leadership skills, strong project documentation skills, employee involvement and continuous improvement discipline, strong communication skills, computer knowledge.

?Database; Microsoft SQL
?High Level Language; Microsoft Visual Basic.
?Site Safety Committee Member:
As a member of this committee, the Plant Engineer will institute and champion all safety initiatives that come out of this meeting as it pertains to Manufacturing Engineering or Operations.
?Plant Safety, Machinery and Equipment Focus:
The Plant Engineer will lead the efforts to ensure that machinery and equipment meet all OSHA and NEC regulations.
?Incident Commander:
The Plant Engineer will be an Incident Commander under the definition and guidelines instituted through the Health, Safety & Environmental Team.
?Insurance Risk Management Champion:
The Plant Engineer will evaluate the recommendations of the sites insurance company and coordinate actions to meet minimum requirements. Work with the maintenance supervisor to develop and maintain preventative maintenance procedures for the fire system.
?Site / Plant Layouts:
The Plant Engineer will lead the efforts on maintaining all site layouts; plan view, utility, water, fire system, etc.
EDUCATION/EXPERINCE/ACCOUNTABILITIES:
? 4 year Degree in Engineering required
? 3-5 year experience
