Production Technicican

Production Technicican Description: The ideal candidate will be under minimal supervision, assists, performs and learns basic electrical control systems, electronics, mechanical and hydraulic maintenance on conventional and NC/Automatic machine tool repair and trouble-shooting.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Perform maintenance of production equipment, cleaning and rebuilding of spare parts as required. Dismantle, move, assemble, install and repair all types of conventional and NC/automatic machine tools including lathes, mills, punch presses, die casting machines, injection and compression plastic molding machines, automatic screw machines and the like. Dismantle, install and upgrade equipment of fairly complicated design from blueprints, layout plans, operating and repair manuals and often works from verbal instructions. Perform electrical, electronic, mechanical, pneumatic and hydraulic trouble-shooting and repair.
Set up and operates conventional machine tools and fabrication machinery to rework or fabricate new parts.
Perform minor rebuilding projects on major machine tools and equipment. May orient, train, assign and check the work of lower level technicians.
Support and share knowledge with lower grade technicians.




Requirements:

The candidate needs to have good communication skills both oral and written. Must be certified in SPC and HAZCOM. Have working knowledge of pneumatic, hydraulic systems to make repairs as needed. Have basic high and low voltage electrical skills and to use test equipment, voltmeter, amp meter, etc. Familiarity and use of PLC/skills to T.S. major machine faults as well as the ability to dismantle, install, upgrade equipment of fairly complicated design from blue prints, detailed drawings or instructions/sketches.
Education/Experience:
High School Diploma/GED and some related certificate or 20 credit hours towards a technical degree and/or*

Minimum 3 years related experience or combination of formal education and experience of which 1 year hands on experience is required and demonstrated proficiency.

Pollution Prevention Physical Requirements:
Must be able to use small hand tools. Must be able to lift 40 lbs regularly and perform continuous, active, physical effort. Work is may require the use of specialized safety equipment. Prolonged period(s) of standing may be required.
