MTU Drive Shafts is a leading manufacturer of high-quality drive shafts for automobile and light commercial vehicle industries.  Development, sales and marketing of drive shafts for the US market are located in Detroit, Michigan.  This allows MTU Drive shafts to serve this market within close proximity to our US customers.  In our new manufacturing plant located in Charleston, South Carolina, we assemble drive shafts for the NAFTA premium car segment.  Our current customer base consists of Mercedes-Benz, Chrysler, Ford, BMW and GM.  Our success is the result of technical innovation together with high product quality which are focused on the needs of our customers.

 

JOB OBJECTIVES

? Procurement of drive-shaft components meeting the cost, quality and delivery requirements.

? Purchasing activities within the project teams by including existing and new suppliers in the Simultaneous Engineering Processes.

? Analysis of the Nafta market for potential new suppliers - searching, qualifying and leading them towards serial production.

Must have a Bachelor or post-graduate degree from a college or university; engineering major preferable. 5 years experience required.

PROFESSIONAL TRAINING / JOB EXPERIENCE

PURCHASING ASSIGNMENTS

Procurement of drive-shaft components

? Cooperation with lead buyers and purchasing department in Germany to meet the negotiation goals within the department and to ensure a common global purchasing strategy.

? Communicating with existing and potential new suppliers, providing technical, quality and delivery information.

? Interfacing with the responsible departments, especially with those for engineering, sales and manufacturing to clarify problems.



 

Simultaneous Engineering Processes

? Working within an engineering team environment predominantly in the period from the first customer contact through launch and post launch to achieve company?s objectives in quality and to reduce the total cost (design to cost).

? Including and supervising of existing and new suppliers in the Simultaneous Engineering Processes.

? Negotiations, cost savings and target costing activities.

? Implementation of the purchasing strategy into the engineering process.

 

Analysis of the NAFTA market

? Searching for new appropriate suppliers in the NAFTA-Market and analyzing market and supplier data, working out solutions and making recommendations for business decisions for new and further development of purchasing activities. 

? Developing and leading new suppliers to meet quality, delivery and cost requirements towards mass production in a team together with supplier quality department.

? Reviewing supplier agreements and performance - developing and managing a continuous improvement plan with goals, measures, resources, and timelines to ensure the ability of being a serial supplier.
