Security Guard

Job Description



This position maintains safe and secure Auction grounds, buildings and vehicles by guarding all Auction property against fire, theft, vandalism, and illegal entry.

 

Responsibilities

? Patrol auction property periodically, checking all buildings, grounds, vehicles and parking lots.  Watch for and report irregularities, such as fire hazards, leaking water pipes, and security doors left unlocked.
? Examine doors, windows, fences and gates for unauthorized entry and make sure they are secure.  Inspect vehicles, equipment and machinery for tampering.
? Warn violators of rule infractions, such as loitering, smoking, or carrying forbidden articles, and apprehend, or expel violators if necessary.
? Observe and search if necessary departing Auction personnel to guard against theft of company property.  Periodically check transported vehicles as situation warrants.
? Notify police and/or fire department in case of fire or unauthorized persons.  Permit authorized person?s to enter property.
? Complete daily security report summarizing all occurrences. Record data and prepare incident reports in case of employee relations? incidents, property damage, unusual occurrences and/or malfunctioning equipment or machinery.
? Regulate vehicle and pedestrian traffic at the Auction entrance or on premises to maintain orderly traffic flow.
? Perform other duties as assigned by manager or supervisor, i.e., scan and receive cars, ensure vehicles exiting are authorized.
? May be required to work overtime (more than 40 hours per week) as business needs

 



Qualifications

High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
1-3 years work experience in the security field.
Valid Drivers License.  Effective communication skills required. Ability to interact with customers and employees. Must possess good problem-solving and organizational skills.
