Senior Buyer

Successful Global Japanese Automotive Supplier is growing and is in need of an experienced Senior Buyer.

 

Commodities purchasing for technical product assembly and manufacturing.

Coordinate with Sales and Marketing Department to analyze demand for current and future products.

Be familiar with the worldwide supplier base and know the strengths and weaknesses of major supplier, and determine the main costs drivers and build action plans to maintain required quality and delivery while minimizing costs.

Assume leadership role in cost reduction activity by providing input during design stage to ensure the target cost is met at start of production, supporting and developing supplier VAVE activities, supporting SDE supplier kaizen workshops by defining cost reduction targets wit the supplier and cost sharing rules with the suppliers, and by drafting and implementing long term contracts.

 Develop proposals, submit to management, and obtain approval on commodity strategy.

Perform an analysis of current supplier capabilities, market trends, and company long term needs.

Implement action plans to improve current supplier panel according to the companies long term needs.

Responsible for global supplier performance and QCD performance.

Source suppliers to strengthen domestic supply base.

 

Bachelor of Science in engineering or related technical field.

Technical professional with two to five years of direct material purchasing experience, ability to assume responsibility for entire projects, and provide general guidance and training to less experienced buyers and support employees.

Ability to identify key purchasing related issues and then apply problem solving skills.

Ability to function successfully with considerable latitude. 

Comprehensive knowledge of material management and procurement function.

Strong PC skills, including proficiency with Excel, Word and Access.

Good communication skills, both verbal and written.

Ability to work in a participative management environment and maintain a drive for accomplishment of responsibilities.

Ability for travel to suppliers, including overseas travel.

Experienced with Japanese cultue and business practices.
