Technical Assistance Center Engineer

General experience/skills required:

~ Must have 7-10 years of PC hardware/software skills with working-to-expert knowledge of PC and LAN based applications, Micrsoft and Adobe shrinkwrap applications, client server applications and architectures, and awareness of MVS, AS400, RS6000, RDMS (Sybase, DB2) technology

~ Good written and oral communication skills (English)

~ Good written and oral communication skills (Japanese)

~ Good problem solving skills

~ Good analytical skills and ability to proactively put forward technical recommendations

~ Ability to effectively interact with several layers of management including Japanese and vendor staff

~ Ability to work according to defined processes and procedures in a team environment

~ Ability to define and improve job related processes and procedures

~ Willingness to work in a highly dynamic environment which requires flexibility and timely reaction to urgent requirements

~ A Bachelor's Degree preferable

~ A minimum of 4 years of troubleshooting 3rd level support

~ MCSC and other certifications a plus

~ Familiarity with scripting such as VBS a plus

 

 

 

Job specific experiences/skills required:

~ Identify and resolve complex PC client/server software and hardware issues in the AHM/AHFC computing environment

~ Resolve assigned calls submitted to the Technical Assistance Center within PC services organization

~ Perform software and hardware installation, imaging and configuration

~ Work closely with other Technical Assistance Center engineers, NT, LAN Admin, WAN, and application developers to resolve complex client-related issues

~ Work closely with the PC lab staff to develop, QA and test images and document process

~ Proficiency in Windows XP and the system Admin tools on Windows NT/2000 platforms, business applications operating on distributed environment such as MS Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, SQL,) DB2, Sybase, Action Request System (Remedy), Lotus Notes R5x/6x, and Dell H/W

~ Develop and manage the implementation of technical documents

~ Research the latest technologies that will meet each business unit?s requirements

~ Work closely with team liaisons from within AHM/AHFC/HNA and outside software and hardware vendors including Honda?s desktop support on-site vendor for new applications and projects in the computing environment

~ Vendor training for 3rd party on-site support staff

~ Develop automation tools
