Business Intelligence Applications Consultant DESCRIPTION

The candidate will be responsible for the development and responsible for the delivery of OLAP (On-Line Analytical Processing) tools to a large customer base.  The responsibilities related to this position include the design, development, implementation, and enhancement of monthly reporting for a portfolio. The reporting system uses SAS, Unix, and Hyperion Essbase to manage and disseminate information to executive management and their staff for decision support. 

 

This candidate must understand data warehousing concepts, and translating the data via business intelligence into the proper tool for reporting for the end user is a must.  They must be able to utilize their in-depth knowledge of technological alternatives and business systems to recommend innovations that enhance and/or provide a competitive advantage to the organization.  They provide feedback and technical guidance to project managers on issues of critical importance to achieving business objectives.  The selected candidate must have the technical knowledge and capabilities to work both as a team member and as an individual contributor.  They must be able to conduct research into data problems and work with users to understand and define their requirements.

 

The successful candidate will have a significant amount of SAS experience (2+ years) and UNIX (1+ years).  Additional experience with the following tools are a plus:  Hyperion Essbase (1+ year), SQL, IBMs UDB, Maestro (Job Scheduler), MS Visual Basic, and Temtec Executive Viewer.  Experience in various Microsoft Office applications (i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, and Access) is a plus.  The candidate should have strong analytical, problem solving, time management, organizational skills, and has proven communication skills.  Prior experience in financial services and a large data-warehousing environment is ideal.  Candidates should have a degree preferably with a major in Business, Finance or Computer Science however; a comparable level of experience may substitute.  The locations for these positions are Norfolk, VA and Newark, DE.
