CMBS Junior Strategist

The Commercial Mortgage Backed Securities Strategy effort at Greenwich Capital plays an integral role in the Real Estate Finance Group. Relative-value trade strategies, commercial-property level research, the tracking of credit performance of CMBS bonds, and the analysis of various structures and stress scenarios are communicated to the firm?s investors, issuers and borrowers via periodic written strategy/research reports, presentations, and conferences. The role of the junior strategist is to work with and assist the senior strategist in producing the above strategies and research. The junior strategist will also serve as a primary interface with sales and investors when the senior strategist is away from the office.

 

A candidate must possess a Bachelor?s Degree, ideally in Economics, Finance or Accounting, Computer Science or a technical discipline such as Mathematics or Statistics. In addition, an ideal candidate should possess excellent writing skills, with a goal toward contributing to the firm?s written reports within 12 to 18 months of start.  Candidates preferably should have two to three years experience in the CMBS marketplace or other structured securities markets. You must be detailed oriented as the role tends to be very data intensive. As such, proficiency in Excel and Access data bases is required.

 

The candidate must be energetic and a self-starter, with the dedication and willingness to work long hours and under pressure, given the deadlines associated with publishing a weekly client report. The goal for the person who fills this position should be to become an integral component of the CMBS strategy effort at RBS Greenwich Capital, including contributing to writing of strategies and interacting with the firm?s clients.
