POSITION SUMMARY:
The Collection Counselor is responsible for assisting customers with strategies and methods of making regular payments on their loans. The goal of this position is to prevent an account from becoming delinquent or from going into foreclosure.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Demonstrates a commitment to support the Brand by practicing the Four Principles and consistently adhering to the Ten Practices on a daily basis
Contacts customers regarding late or delinquent payments and maintains accurate records of conversations
Discusses with customers methods to avoid becoming further delinquent or to bring the account current
Researches and locates missing payments
Devises written correspondence regarding customer accounts
Assists other collection counselors as necessary
Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education & Experience:
Education: High school diploma, GED or equivalent required
Prior experience: one to three years of directly related experience required

Technical Skills:
Computer skills: able to use a computer following clear instructions (email, data entry, etc.)
Math/numeric skills: basic arithmetic is required
Telephone skills: maintains an exceptional phone presence even in difficult or complex situations. Responsible for follow-up/record keeping on calls.
Organized: monitors, records, and tracks the various steps of standard production or service process

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
This position requires the ability to:
sit for an extended period of time, work/type on a computer, hear and talk to answer/make phone calls on a daily basis, and see clearly at a distance of 20 inches or less to read documents and/or view computer screen
