Commercial Financial Analyst II - 23684 - MI

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

-Provide consistent quality customer service to both internal and external customers that meets or exceeds Sovereign?s standards
-Under direction, this position is responsible for complex financial analysis of a commercial borrower and the related loans for larger and more complex commercial relationships. 
-Working as an integral member of the team, incumbent provides Relationship Managers with analysis of loan requests and recommendations, noting deviations from Sovereign Loan Policy as appropriate. 
-This position works independently with Sovereign?s largest and most complex borrowers to recommend approval, denial or alternative loan structure.
-Support Relationship Managers in maintenance and development of customer relationships.
-Research industry specific information from outside sources including conversations with borrowers, industry publications, area libraries, references from other banks or credit agencies and the internet.
-Independently discuss alternative structures, overall assessment and turnaround requirements with Relationship Managers.
-Prepare and review in depth written analyses for relationships of all sizes and levels of complexity including those with the greatest exposure.
-Monitor on an ongoing basis financial performance and reporting requirements (covenants) with the commercial portfolio.
-Complete and review loan requests focusing on larger and more complex loans or those with unusual structures/industries.
-Participate in customer meetings as requested by Portfolio or Relationship Managers.
-Participates in special projects as assigned.

 

Education/Experience/Qualifications:

-A Bachelor?s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics or related field, or equivalent work experience, and 2-4 years of progressively more responsible accounting or financial analysis/operations work experience.
-Thorough understanding of financial/accounting principles and systems.
-Working knowledge of computer spreadsheets, modeling software, management information and database systems.
-Strong analytical, problem solving and organizational skills as well as the ability to make independent decisions and manage projects.
-Ability to work well within a structured team environment along with excellent interpersonal as well as verbal and written communication skills.
-Ability to work independently across the organization.
-Attention to detail oriented with specific focus on accuracy and presentation.
-Formal Credit Training a plus.
