Communications Technical Specialist - 12023

Prime Function:
The primary responsibility of the Communications Technical Specialist is to provide departmental representation on a wide variety of management, process and technical issues within Communication Engineering.

Some Specific Functions Of This Role:
- Delivers quality network solutions
- Investigates new technology and reviews and authors technical papers
- Provides short and long term strategic direction to the department objectives, employee opinion surveys, departmental budget and training requirements
- Chairs or participates in technical forums to determine and/or provide requirements for new and existing network configurations
- Provides costing for major customer and/or internal initiatives
- Ensures compliance to existing BMO networking standards
- Reviews and recommends improvements to processes and procedures, cost analysis, documentation maintenance
- Conducts implementation planning activities for major initiatives
- Participates in vendor negotiations
- Participates in Network health investigations

 

Qualifications:

- Excellent knowledge of Bank's policies, procedures and methodologies
- Strong knowledge of Network technology architecture
- Technical currency in both data and voice protocols
- 8 to 10 years technical experience in IT
- Previous managerial experience
- Good PC skills
- Computer Science degree or equivalent
