Construction Specialist

This position reports to the National Real Estate Group (NREG) Construction Loan Administrator.  The specialist is a member of a team, which provides administrative and documentation support for the department?s construction lending process on a national basis for transactions up to ten million dollars in size.  The specialist?s primary function is to perform/order due diligence required in the construction lending process and prepare documents such as commitment letters and document preparation requests for Community Banking which is comprised of Community Bank Sales (Middle Market and Business Banking), Retail Banking and McDonald Financial Group.  The specialist will also support Key Auto Finance and Key Recreation Lending on a national basis for transactions up to ten million dollars in size. Responsible for providing guidance, education and superior client service while maintaining risk management, compliance with credit approval, bank policies, regulatory requirements, and internal procedures and controls.

 

Essential Job Functions Provide guidance to relationship manager in the pre-closing process by participating in conference calls with relationship manager, underwriter, title company, legal counsel, and customer as requiredReview of credit approval, preparation of commitment letters, and checklists of items required prior to closing Drives the loan closing process by identifying items/conditions to be satisfied, the party responsible, and obtaining/reviewing due diligence required for transactions Makes recommendations to team captain regarding the appropriateness of waiver requests, and uses judgment to determine acceptability of checklist requirements Orders and ensures that loan documentation accurately represents the business terms and conformity to credit approval and policies; initiates and approves negotiated changes to reflect unique conditions Prepares closing instructions for counsel/title company, authorizes closings and initial funding Works closely with multiple parties to achieve a well-coordinated and timely closing, including bank counsel, relationship manager, borrower, title agents, etc

 

Job Requirements Four year college degree or equivalent real estate business experience Demonstrated ability to recognize diligence concerns and take appropriate steps to protect the bank, achieving balance between client services and risk mitigation General familiarity with credit underwriting/approval methodologies.

 

Preferred Skills:Two plus years experience closing commercial real estate loans Familiarity with commercial loan accounting systems
