DIRECT LENDING UNDERWRITER I

Job Description: GENERAL FUNCTION: Responsible for analyzing Consumer Credit applications and information for Direct Lending. Direct responsibility to underwrite secured and unsecured Consumer Lending products (i.e., Home equity lines of credit, home equity term loans, mobile home loans and Direct installment loans) across multiple states, Affiliates or geographic regions. Provides superior quality service to internal and external customers (Retail Banking Center Managers and vendors). Supports process improvements and business objectives. Accepts additional projects as assigned.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:



Analyze consumer credit reports for Consumer Lending applications to evaluate risk and make appropriate credit decision for Direct Lending across multiple states, Affiliates or geographic regions.


Reviews documents to support credit decision (verification of income, tax returns, personal financial statement, trusts and additional supporting documentation, etc.)


Orders and reviews documents to underwrite within stated Consumer Lending Guidelines and applicable regulations (flood determination, property appraisals, property reports/title searches, and documents, etc.)


Verifies completeness and accuracy of credit applications.


Formulates and communicates credit decision (approve, decline or counteroffer) in compliance with established underwriting guidelines, compliance and regulatory requirements.


Develops business relationships and build rapports with customers to achieve mutual goals across multiple states, Affiliates or geographic regions to achieve mutual goals.


Manages application pipeline to meet business objectives.


Reviews pipeline applications to maximize production and meet stated service quality levels.


Provides superior quality service to internal and external customers at all times and demonstrate professional demeanor.


Consumer Lending Underwriter I shall have a minimum of $25,000 Consumer Lending authority and make independent credit decisions up to their assigned authority.


Reviews credit applications and recommends decisions on applications over their assigned authority to their manager.
