Director, Unix Administration

Reporting to the Director, Technical Operations,The Director,Unix Administration will be responsible formanagement of the  UNIX administration team, with oversight over the design, installation, operation, monitoring, troubleshooting, and support of UNIX and Linux based systems and applications.

 

Essential Functions:

 

?  Hire the right system and application administrators and manage performance to ensure sustained achievement of results

?  Ensure that Companies UNIX and Linux based systems meet business capacity, availability, and performance requirements

?  Apply process and architectural improvements to continually improve the availability, capacity, and performance of Companies UNIX and Linux based systems

?  Develop partnerships with business and technology colleagues as well as external vendors  

?  Communicate appropriately and efficiently with executive management, customers, and vendors

?  Demonstrate strong leadership

?  Sustain a team-oriented, fast-paced and innovative environment

?  Oversee all system administration functions including server hardware configuration and maintenance; capacity  management; storage management; and user access administration.

?  Manage the installation, patching, and upgrades to Companies UNIX systems including the OS as well as custom and commercial applications.

?  Responsible for operational monitoring including system space and resource utilization, security monitoring, and performance tuning.

?  Responsible for analysis and capacity management for the backup and recovery environment including Business Continuity planning.

Knowledge, Skills, Education, Experience,

and Competencies:

 7+ years of relevant UNIX system administration experience5+ years team leadership, with minimum 3 years of management experienceExperience with enterprise class SAN solutions Experience with high volume, mission critical commercial website applicationsExperience with high availability solutionsFamiliarity with banking requirements for IT preferredAbility to work with minimal supervision in a fast paced, dynamic environmentExcellent oral and written communications skillsStrong interpersonal skillsAbility to display strong sense of urgencyStrong project and process management skills
