ERM Systems Manager

Description:
The main mandate of the Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) Department is to look across and within risk disciplines (credit, market risk, operational risk, etc.) to provide a comprehensive perspective with respect to the identification, measurement, reporting, management and strategic direction of Risk within the Bank in order to more effectively participate in and coordinate bank-wide management (mitigate, absorb or transfer) and measurement of risk in the pursuit of the long term enhancement of shareholder value. This perspective is to be delivered, in a relevant format, to decision makers at all levels within the bank to ensure a unified approach to the risk inherent in future known and unknown events. In any case, ERM is to pursue or establish banking industry "best practice" in order to provide a competitive advantage to the bank.

This position serves as the lead systems and information manager from the business unit (as opposed to IT) perspective. "Best practice" systems and information availability, acquisition and quality are a focus. In pursuit of these elements, this position serves as the primary advocate for the business unit. The business unit represented is the ERM team and related QRM users (Credit, Market and Operational Risk Units along with Financial modeling in Finance. IT points of contact include: Enterprise Data, Application Support and Project Management.

Essential Functions:
* The ERM Systems Manager occupies a key role within the ERM group. This individual will work closely with the group Heads to envision and build the data, systems infrastructure, and applications required to support current and expected needs related to risk modeling. This entails leading several user groups related to the issues above.
* Candidate will develop, maintain, and ensure accuracy for all data being used for purposes of modeling risk. This includes the timely delivery of month end data reconciled to the source systems on a monthly basis and includes market data along with non financial metrics as determined by the business users.
* Candidate will play the lead role in coordinating the production architecture with respect to versioning, model changes, environment setup and performance. A strong relationship with IT and adherence to service level agreements are required.
* The incumbent will define business requirements for modeling, portfolio management, and the quantitative support group related to data, architecture, and systems coordination. He/she will develop test plans and strategies, including user acceptance and system testing. He/she will assist in the definition of enhancements required by the business groups.
* This position involves extensive interaction with quants, risk managers, trading desks and senior management on a wide range of systems and company models (prepayment, default and loss, indeterminate maturity, interest rate generation).
* The incumbent is capable of directing a team, managing large-scale projects delegating assignments, and providing input for performance appraisals. The incumbent must be able to work effectively with all levels of management and staff and must possess superior project management and interpersonal skills.

Qualifications:
* 5 to 7 years of job description related financial services (preferably in a capital markets related) industry experience
Experienced with:
* ETL reporting tools and query optimization
* Object Oriented Design
* Relational Database technology (required knowledge of Oracle and SQL
Server, MySQL a plus)

Education and/or Certifications:
* MS in related educational field desired

Technical skills and abilities:
* Good working knowledge of the issues surrounding large data warehouses
* Hands on programming is not required as it will be executed within the IT Group.
* Must demonstrate a proven track record of success in a senior role including financial project management.
* The candidate should have prior experience in developing requirements for business units.
* Current work experience must demonstrate expertise in the business environment and applications technology, use of project management, and effective communication skills, both internally (cross functional) and externally (application vendors).
* The candidate should have an in-depth understanding of MBS/ABS/CMBS products and structures, cashflow calculation, risk measures, and pricing conventions is required, including extensive knowledge of related Market and ERM technologies and concepts.
* Prior experience in Asset and Liability Systems (QRM, Bancware, Sendero, etc.) recommended but not required

Working Conditions:
* Flexibility in respect to hours as business needs demand. Some travel required.
