Equity Research Associate position - Bank of America Securities

DESCRIPTION   The Financial Analyst or Research Associate would be part of BofA's top-ranked senior equity research analyst covering packaging & paper/forest companies.  The senior analyst has a long history of being highly supportive of his associates as they pursue their careers, and is also an excellent coach.

 

The candidate MUST be able to thrive in a high-paced and intense environment. He or she will work alongside Senior Analysts, Research Associates, and Financial Analysts in all aspects of the equity research process, from idea generation to marketing, including but not limited to the following:

 
Perform complex financial modeling & valuation across all of our 25 companies.
Maintain numerous databases integral to our research product.
Demonstrate strong industry knowledge and business judgment.
Work with Senior Analysts to develop key industry themes.
Fields client calls and articulate the Senior analysts? investment theses on stocks.
Speak at the morning meeting when the Senior Analyst is not available.
Periodically attend client meetings.
Speaks with salespeople on a regular basis to update them on industry or company views.
Closely follow and understand equity market activity, and relay to analyst when traveling.
Draft initiation or industry reports, and "First Call" notes with minimal edits.
Seeks out new, value-added, and/or unusual sources of information.
Leverage a robust network of industry contacts.

 

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS

 
Bachelors of Science and/or MBA.
Major(s) and areas of academic excellence must include Accounting and Finance.
Strong writing and spreadsheet skills. Must be an expert at MS Word and MS Excel.
Must enjoy working in industry databases and websites, and doing desktop and field research.
Along with Finance and Accounting, should have basic understanding of economics, macroeconomic factors, international affairs, and policy/politics.
Must have excellent communication skills, written and verbal.
Must have strong attention to detail, ability to multi-task.
Must like an intense, high-paced environment, and want a career in the sell- or buy-side.
Three year commitment to our team.

 

Knowledge of the paper and/or packaging sectors is a plus, as is knowledge of consumer goods or other industrial companies.

 

One to two years of experience on the sell-side is a positive.
