Internal Controls Manager - (CH11352)

Position Summary: The position is primarily responsible for managing and monitoring corporate-wide documentation and assessment activities related to compliance with both the Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002 (SOX) and the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation Improvement Act (FDICIA). This position will assist the Director of Internal Controls in assuring that the system of internal controls is robust for the type and level of risks posed by the nature and scope of the organization's activities. Responsible for assisting the Director of Internal Controls in ensuring that the policies, procedures, and limits of TSFG and subsidiary activities provide for effective identification, measurement, monitoring, and control of the risks posed by all significant activities, including but not limited to lending, investing, trading, trust and fiduciary activities.

Specific Accountabilities: As directed by the Director of Internal Controls, the Internal Controls Specialist will assist with various components of the Internal Controls functions. These components are Internal Controls (Financial and Non-Financial) and Policies/Procedures/Limits.

Financial Controls: Obtain understanding and document processes utilizing narratives and flowcharts; identify and document risks and the related internal controls to mitigate such risk; Perform Sarbanes Oxley (SOX) scoping activities, SOX issues classification activities, Steering Committee reporting, facilitation of external audit activities and other SOX activities.

Non-Financial Controls: Assist Director of Internal Controls with mapping and assessment of key risks and related controls.

Policies/Procedures/Limits: Assist Director of Internal Controls in identifying and assessing adequacy of key policies, procedures and limits.


Competencies/Skill-Sets Required:

oMinimum 7 years of relevant financial institution experience.
oStrong oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
oThe ability to effectively communicate with staff and managers
oQuick learner, early adapter of new methods, processes and technologies.
oUnderstanding of financial institution policies, controls, and related information systems.
oUnderstanding of control standards and practices in the financial institution industry; and statutes, regulations and other requirements, which with TSFG must comply.

Designations/Training Required/Prerequisites:

oAccounting, Business, Finance, or Risk Management related degree. Graduate education such as Masters in Accounting or Business Administration is considered a plus.
oUnderstanding of financial reporting requirements and GAAP as well as SOX and FDICIA regulatory requirements.
oAn active certification is preferred (i.e., CPA, CIA, CBA, CISA, etc.)
