Mortgage Originator

Position will be based at the Geneva Office and service the surrounding areas. Compensation is based on commission program.

Function:
Originates real estate loans for in-house and secondary markets. Sets up loans to be processed and underwritten. Assumes certain administrative duties as assigned by the senior management team. Solicits residential first mortgages through contacts with realtors, builders, and developers. Negotiates terms and conditions of loan with mortgagors. Calls on potential or existing customers as assigned to develop new business or retain existing business.

Work Performed
Essential Functions

A. Originates real estate loans. Pre-qualifies customers for loans by interviewing the applicants in person to obtain biographical and financial information.
1. Reviews loans in process and determines their status.
2. Reviews supporting incoming exhibits, credit reports, appraisals, etc.

B. Pre-underwrites loans by matching information on the application with the requested data. Reviews the appraisal, credit report, and title work by following program guidelines and loan policy.

C. Maintains professional relationships with real estate affiliate and participates in selected community activities to increase the bank's visibility. Develops new business opportunities in addition to furthering his/her personal development.

D. Explains and cross-sells various bank services available (e.g. checking, savings, insurance, investments, automatic loan payments, etc.) to customers.

E. Updates knowledge and develops professionally on a continuing basis through various training resources. These resources may include, but are not limited to, the following:
1. Participates in all required in-house training. This may include seminars, meetings, videos, etc. in areas including, but not limited to, orientation, product knowledge, technological/computer, regulatory/compliance, and interpersonal/supervisory training.
2. Participates in non-required in-house training and training offered by external vendors as needed and when appropriate.
3. Actively participates in determining an individual training and development plan each year via the organization?s Performance Planning and Appraisal process. Follows this plan diligently as resources are available.

Non-Essential Functions

A. Assists in contacting real estate customers for missing documentation or delinquent payments.

B. Performs other duties as assigned.



Basic Qualifications
Bachelor?s degree, or equivalent in work experience.
Two or three years mortgage origination experience.
Familiarity with all of the bank's products and services, the bank's lending policy, and state bank and federal regulations.
Effective analytical skills.
Effective interpersonal skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
PC Skills to include Word, Excel and Outlook.
Will be required to complete/achieve CORE competencies of position as set forth on the employee development outline.
