This position will be responsible for working with Operational Risk Management Data. Responsibilities include defining and executing on data collection processes, developing reports and queries to support Operational Risk Management and fulfilling WaMu obligations as and ORX member -Operational Risk Exchange.
o Minimum four years prior work experience in risk management or related fields including public accounting, internal audit, data security, business continuity planning, financial analysis, or compliance roles in the financial services, insurance, or retail business sectors. Prior experience with Sarbanes-Oxley 404 or Basel II Accord implementations is a plus.
o Experience with data warehouse, data mining, Business Intelligence, reporting, data management, or data mart applications is desirable.
o Proficiency with principles and practices of accounting and financial analysis.
o Knowledge of financial services industry practices and regulatory requirements, including lending, deposit, treasury, and support operations.
o Strong analytical skills including the ability to probe sensitive issues while maintaining the highest level of integrity and objectivity.
o Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.
o Ability to establish productive working relationships with diverse groups and individuals.
o Ability to perform multiple tasks in a fluid environment, and to work both independently and as a team member.
o Ability to convert business requirements into technical specifications.
o Experience working with large volumes of data.
o A BA or MA, including major course work in accounting, finance, business or Management information systems, statistics and economics.
o 5+ years of related experience, or any combination of education and/or experience that would demonstrate the capability to perform the essential functions of the position.
o Strong Excel skills.
o Knowledge relational databases and SQL - Oracle skills preferred.
o Knowledge of OLAP, Crystal Reports and dashboard/scorecards important.
o Possession of, or willingness to pursue, professional certification (e.g., CPA, CIA, Certified Risk Professional, Financial Risk Manager).
