Ratings Development Manager - Banking

A.M. Best has been the leading source of insurance industry information for over 100 years.  Recently, A.M. Best has witnessed fundamental changes in the financial markets in which the insurance companies operate. Banks have been entering the insurance business, either by buying agencies for life or property and casualty lines, or by acting as major distribution channels for certain insurance products such as variable annuities.  The two industries are also increasingly competing for customers with similar products, such as single premium deferred annuities and bank certificates of deposit--both targeting the same markets.

In response to these changes A.M. Best has expanded its analytical coverage to the banking industry, focusing primarily on the U.S. market.  Due to recent growth we have a challenging and rewarding opportunity for a Manager of Ratings Development to support our bank ratings initiative.

The Manager of Ratings Development will be responsible for developing new rating relationships with key banking constituencies, including banking associates and other influential banking parties.  He/she will facilitate the initial bank rating opportunities by explaining the ratings process, enhancing Best?s profile and the need for a Best?s rating, and focusing on developing new rating opportunities.  He/she will attend conferences with greatest potential for new rating requests.

The ideal candidate must have: Bachelors Degree in Business or related field. Strong marketing and/or business development skills. Previous banking industry experience and knowledge. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Experience with business recommendations/presentations to senior management. Excellent interpersonal skills. Willingness to travel 10-15 %. (Mostly day trips to New York City.) Ability to work independently Ability to manage multiple priorities Must be a self starter with an excellent work ethic.

Our corporate headquarters is conveniently located near the intersection of I-78 and I-287 in central New Jersey. We offer a comprehensive salary and benefits package, which includes a medical, dental and prescription plan, a non-contributory pension program, a 401(k) plan with matching, company-paid life and LTD insurance plans, and tuition assistance.  For more information visit our website at www.ambest.com
