Risk Management Officer/Investment Banking
Spherion, in conjunction with one of the world's leading financial services providers, seeks a Risk Management Officer (AVP level) to analyze and recommend approval or declination of credit and trading product transactions for primarily EUC counterparties.
Job Description
Provide secondary coverage of various corporate and FI sectors. Monitor individual credit/risk portfolios as well as the industry fundamentals. Assist in structuring transactions and act as intermediary between business units and senior credit approvers/committees. Core Group Objectives: 1. Avoid Credit Losses a. Track & proactively analyse industry risk b. Diligently & proactively manage counterparty risk c. Provide analytical contribution to credit requests 2. Enhance Profitability a. Optimize allocation of economic capital b. Agree/contribute to client and industry credit strategies c. Add constructive guidance on marginal requests 3. Optimise Process & Productivity a. Maintain high standards of data integrity b. Evidence sound prioritization & time management c. Contribute ideas to enhance operational & process efficiency Purpose and Responsibilities: ? Manage credit/risk associated with an assigned portfolio of mostly investment grade counterparties. Includes lending, counterparty trading, foreign exchange, derivatives, capital market products and structured finance. Monitor performance of risk exposure and assess transaction & client profitability. ? Analyze and assess all transaction requests efficiently and promptly. Prepare all credit reports and supporting materials in a manner consistent with Bank policies & procedures. Interact with Client Service Teams to remain abreast of counterparty issues, properly maintain counterparty hierarchies and secure appropriate documentation to enable proposed transactions. ? Assess credit quality. Apprise management of significant industry events which have a major negative impact on credit quality. Work with marketers and legal to expedite the execution of Legal Agreements and ISDA and other documentation.
Required skills and experience
5 years of banking/financial services experience in credit, lending and/or marketing with strong credit/risk and financial analysis skills
Must possess a broad based knowledge of trading products, corporate finance, legal and compliance issues, as well as documentation
Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
Must be assertive, independent & professional, as well as a team player, with the ability to balance the demands of business development with prudent risk assessment and sound judgment
Must be computer literate in word processing and spreadsheet software
