Securities Coding/Pricing Analyst

Job Summary: Asset Analysis - Pricing department is looking for an energetic, motivated and skilled individual to fill in a recently opened position as a Securities Pricing Analyst. The preferred candidates will have a bachelor's degree or equivalent (preferrebly in Economics or Finance) and a minimum of 2 years experience in another finance related position. The candidate will be responsible for Fixed Income research and analysis; therefore, it's important for the applicants to possess some quantitative research skills. The position requires the candidates to demonstrate ability to multi-task, shift priorities, communicate with brokers/managers/dealers in an effective manner, understand the composition of structured finance (i.e. MBS, CMO, ABS, CDO, CLO and CBO issues), corporate debt and government bonds. The candidates should be able to demonstrate general understanding of relationship between the economic environment, Fed activities and influences those can have on financial/capital markets; be able to use deductive reasoning to analyze causes of price changes, valuation discrepancies and volatility in relation to changes in interest rates, economic indicators, etc.

Incumbent will also interpret and analyze indicative data and valuation information regarding various asset types to ensure the proper coding and pricing of assets in client accounts. Researches and resolves discrepancies through vendor or investment manager interchange and analytical tools, communicating resolutions to appropriate parties such as accounting, entitlements, trade, and investments.

 

Major Duties:
Interprets asset information regarding different security types to ensure accurate processing and valuation of client account records.
Determines the appropriate indicative data required to set up pricing and accounting information on the asset file.
Seeks out and recommends to management new information sources (brokers, vendors) to use for asset pricing.
Reviews new asset information, applying knowledge of various security types including derivative instruments to interpret and record the security on the asset file.
Communicates with data and valuation vendors, brokers, investment managers, underwriters, and partners to obtain information regarding assets.
Analyzes asset and valuation data, including reviewing supporting documentation and analytical tools (such as Bloomberg, data and pricing model, indices, yield curves, etc.) to validate data and resolve discrepancies and exceptions.
Ensures the data and valuation integrity of all asset information.
Determines appropriate pricing/asset vendor and the data needed, using and applying knowledge of how different security types/complexities affect trading, income, and accounting.

 

Knowledge/Skills:
Knowledge of the securities industry and financial markets (domestic and global), usually acquired through coursework or market experience, is required to analyze and interpret asset and valuation information
Analytical and negotiation skills are required to research and validate information and resolve exceptions

 

Experience Required: 2-3 years experience in securities operation/transaction or market/trading environment.
