The Senior Accountant is responsible for providing senior level analysis to ensure divisions are reporting accurate financial data; meeting GAAP standards and corporate directives. Some duties typically include overseeing the work of others in the performance review process, training needs and independently assisting the manager in all phases of financial reporting, budget analyses, treasury accounting, and/or corporate level accounting activities. In addition, you will interpret, analyze, and identify regulatory problems/exposure areas, and resolve issues with appropriate personnel to further ensure proper regulatory reporting by the Bank. This will further be supported by the development, implementation, and maintenance of accounting control systems and procedures to ensure the proper recording of assets, liabilities, and surplus.
We are looking for a self motivated, team oriented individual that will bring a can-do attitude to a dynamic group in a fast paced, transaction based environment. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting and financial reporting, be proficient in using database and system tools to analyze and manipulate information, and take an analytical approach to his/her work product. This individual will interface with several groups across the Company, including SEC/Regulatory Reporting, Portfolio Management, Loan Sales/Securitization, and Treasury.
An overview of the responsibilities includes the following:
o Financial accounting, reporting and analysis for the Company’s $40 billion Investment Portfolio.
o Quarterly SEC and Regulatory reporting.
o Daily executive management reporting on portfolio performance results.
o Impairment, yield and variance analysis.
o Accounting and reporting for retained interests in securitization transactions.
o Accounting for derivatives used to hedge investment portfolios.
o Automation and streamlining of existing accounting and reporting processes.
o Special projects, as directed by senior management.
Bachelor's Degree in accounting or finance or a combination of education and/ or experience is preferred, CPA, CFA, CIA, or MBA preferred
Two or more years financial accounting or related work experience.
Must understand professional accounting theory as well as generally accepted accounting principles, controls, practices, automated General Ledger and other finance-related systems
Advanced MS Excel, Access and Word required, Oracle skills highly desired
Excellent oral and written communication skills are required
Self-motivated, high energy and excellent organizational skills a must
Basic understanding of financial analysis theory and practices, as applied to the financial services industry.

Proactive and continuous attitude toward identifying, addressing and resolving accounting and process improvement opportunities.
Willingness and ability to manage multiple tasks and reprioritize workload in order to meet business needs.
Public accounting experience is a plus.
CPA is a plus.
