This position will be responsible for understanding the "full picture" of all financial control functions in a high volume accounting department such as system balancing, settlements, reporting, process controls/improvements, system enhancements and all accounting activities are in accordance with GAAP and company policies/procedures.
Responsibilities will include but not limited to the following functions:
? Working independently, perform functions which consist of system balancing, cash clearing, suspense, abandoned property, unidentified payments, adjustments and as assigned.
? Participate in the closing process (ME/QE/YE), journal entries (creating, logging, uploading), Balance Sheet analysis/reviews, client relationships and internal/external audits.
? Department compliance including reconciliation standards, continuation of business, self-assessment, internal controls, separation of duties and SOX.
? Other individual or team functions include research, ad-hoc analysis, other pro-forma development in support of special projects, and others as assigned.
? Effectively communicate in a proactive manner at all times with internal and external customers on a continuous and consistent basis representing Financial Control on various projects, new business initiatives, product conversions and other assignments.
? Partnering with Operations to resolve issues related to cardholders and processes within a timely manner.
? Developing and maintaining written/complete desk procedures (training) with a high degree of accuracy and focus on details. Recommend new or improved processes with a focus on automation to management by consistently challenging yourself to “think outside the box.”
? Identify, develop and help implement new processes/procedures as needed for products and to support business/client initiatives — Also assist in testing and implementation of new business initiatives.
This position requires an individual to be professional, detailed oriented, able to multi-task, highly organized, self-motivated, innovative, possess the ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with all internal/external customers and support the company business and culture; all by working independently, sometimes as a leader and being part of a team.
Specific qualifications include:Bachelors degree in Accounting or equivalent experience (required)CPA preferred. 5-7 years of experience Experience working with a large accounting information system is a plus Knowledge of accounting principles (GAAP), procedures and theory is required. Experience performing reconciliations and journal entries to the G/L is preferred Intermediate knowledge of Excel, Word and Outlook Experience working in the financial industry or on a system conversion is a plus. Strong communication (verbal & written) and presentation skills with the ability to effectively interface and build on-going relationships among all levels with the organization. Ability to function in a fast-paced environment under substantial time pressure and under the demands set by the department and/or company policies/procedures while maintaining a high level of accuracy and strong attention to details (into the details).Ability to perform the position requirements set forth above in a consistent, timely, organized and efficient manner while always showing improvement. The ability to multi-task, willingness to learn and meet all required deadlines is required. Must be team oriented, create and maintain a high level of morale within the department.
