Senior Technical Architect

The Cash Movement Systems Department is establishing a new team to support several new enterprise wide Risk  applications.  We are looking for a qualified and enthusiastic individual to join the team and serve in a technical architect capacity. The position will involve solution design and development for a new operating risk reporting initiative that is just beginning. The right candidate will be comfortable acting as a solutions strategist to architect an operating risk reporting framework that will gather risk data from several different sources and present it in a variety of different reports and formats. The individual would be involved in database design, data transformation, and use of a robust reporting tool that can provide the various levels of management risk reporting.

 

The candidate would be expected to participate in all aspects of the project life cycle including: requirements, planning, design, development and testing.  The candidate would be responsible for ensuring all of the design elements of the project complement each other, support client architecture standards and meet business requirements.  The architect will coordinate infrastructure and application design specialties to design systems that achieve organizational goals such as reusability, productivity, performance and scalability.  The architect will have a broad knowledge of the corporate computing environment, and detailed knowledge of selected technology disciplines.

 

Essentially, we need someone who has contributed in a senior technical role on more than one platform in the past. Ideally, this person will also be comfortable working with other technology and platforms in the future as required. While working with technology, they should have been responsible for technical leadership and design on at least one major project.

 

High-level Job Duties:

Participate in project planning via identification of tasks, issues and risks

Evaluation of projects to identify the technical tasks required for their success

Application architecture

Database design

Data transformation alternatives

Develop software to meet specified requirements

Plan and perform software testing

 

 

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:



Significant background (5+ years) in the IT industry covering various areas of enterprise architecture.  

 

CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS:

 

Education Requirements:

Four year software or engineering degree.

 

Software Development Requirements:

Significant development experience in at least several (but not all) of the following areas:

Deep knowledge in SDLC methodology, conceptual design, infrastructure design, architecture design, component design, object oriented design & analysis and enterprise application integration.

Significant experience architecting and designing Business Intelligence, Enterprise Reporting and/or Data

Warehousing applications (i.e. Cognos, Crystal, Business Objects)

Experience working with OLAP and ETL utilities

Strong background in all application tiers

  - Front end web frameworks (i.e. Struts, JSF)

  - Application servers and middleware (i.e. J2EE, BEA WebLogic 6.1+, Websphere MQ)

  - Enterprise RDBMS  Schema and SQL design (in order of priority:  Oracle, DB2, Sybase)
