Senior Underwriter

POSITION SUMMARY: Responsible for the underwriting of conventional single family, multi family and commercial loan packages in accordance with the guidelines set forth by Freddie MAC, Conventional and the Bank.  The job incumbent may be required to fulfill additional job duties as required by supervisor. 

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:


1. Underwrite single-family and multi-family loan packages which consists of evaluating the credit worthiness of the borrower and their ability to repay the loan, assess the borrower?s financial capacity, analyze the subject property and then makes recommendations for Loan Committee approval or denial.

 

2. Complies with all FHLBB, FHLMC, FNMA, RESPA, ECOA, TIL and the Bank?s policies and procedures.


3. May answer inquiries regarding Bank?s current loan programs and policies.


4. Interfaces with Brokers, Loan Agents and customers in preparing loan packages for Loan Committee approval.


5. Reviews the appraisal to evaluate the market value and determine that the property meets the Bank?s standards and qualifies as security for the loan requested.


6. Work closely with junior underwriters and counter sign loan decisions consistent with program parameters as needed.


7. Performs other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Qualified candidates must have thorough understanding of FHLMC/Fannie Mae underwriting guidelines; knowledge of conventional loans; must have the ability to handle multiple tasks while meeting daily deadlines; excellent organizational, verbal and written communication skills required; must be computer literate. High School Diploma or GED required; Bachelors Degree preferred.  A minimum of 5-years lending experience with a high level understanding of compliance regulations.
