Small Business Underwriter

As a Small Business Underwriter with U.S. Bank, you will:Be responsible for conducting credit analyses including gathering, analyzing and interpreting all types of credit information for existing and prospective business customers in order to maximize credit and minimize risk and potential loss Approve and/or deny loans within certain limits and make credit structure and loan pricing decisions. Counsel bankers on the proper structuring of loans. Determine appropriate information needed for use in performing a credit quality analysis. Investigate all available sources of credit and financial information including reporting services, credit bureaus, other companies and current files Conduct credit analysis and underwriting for the approval/denial of small loans Analyze and interpret credit quality information for an existing loan portfolio or a prospective loan. Coordinate relationships between bankers and management to facilitate the loan approval/portfolio review process Periodically reviewcurrent accounts, noting payment progress, and reporting any developing problems to management Ensure that all credit files are kept current with latest financial statements, reports, etc. While we expect that you?ll possess a strong basic skill set, including excellent communication and people skills, strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and the ability to work effectively in a team or independently, we also require:Good credit and analytical skills and a thorough understanding of general economic theory as it relates to the lending and business environment Thorough level of knowledge in credit analysis, underwriting, administration, policy and procedure.
