Sr Analyst I, Treasury

Job Description SR TREASURY ANALYST - POSITION DESCRIPTION

Reporting to the Treasury Operations manager, the Sr Treasury Analyst will serve a key role in the daily cash management and banking activities of the Company and to ensure compliance with Treasury Department policies and procedures and Sarbanes-Oxley requirements. Additionally, this position is made unique through active involvement in all aspects of the Treasury function including foreign exchange, short term investment program, risk management, strategic investments, stock repurchase, stock option plan, and the Biogen Idec Foundation.

CASH MANAGEMENT
Perform all daily cash management functions.
Review daily cash reports, monitor U.S. wire transfers via Bank of America's BA Direct system and research any wire transfer inquiries.
Estimate and provide for the funding of U.S. daily cash requirements for the Corporation.
Monitor actual cash vs. target cash balances; chart on a monthly basis
Maintain bank signatory authorization limits, coordinate authorized signatures on all new bank accounts, add new signers to existing accounts as necessary, and coordinate all openings/closings of bank accounts.
Execute all Federal and applicable state quarterly tax payments.

RISK MANAGEMENT
General administration of the Company's insurance policies. Interface with insurance brokers regarding any claims and changes in values of insured assets.
Assist with all insurance policy renewals- Domestic & Foreign Package, Auto, Worker's Compensation, Fiduciary, Product/Clinical Trial, Crime, and Cargo policies.
Coordinate with insurance brokers to satisfy insurance certificate requests from Biogen Idec employees as well as outside vendors

FOREIGN EXCHANGE
Coordinate all FX rate use within the Finance Department; publish monthly translation rates for worldwide use.
Prepare monthly FX rate charts to track movement of major European currencies for distribution to Treasurer as well as to the Director of European Finance.

INVESTMENT PROGRAM
Assist with preparation of quarterly investment review package (e.g. performance and portfolio characteristics graphs) for $2B cash investment portfolio.

OTHER
Coordination of budget, disbursements, and monthly reporting for the Biogen Idec Foundation
Tracking and reporting of outstanding shares
Interfacing with Option and Restricted Stock plan administrator; funding of share account at custodian
Ad hoc analysis as required by the Treasurer

Qualifications
Prior work experience in Treasury operations environment (Cash management, FX, Risk Management/Insurance), MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, MS Word

Education
BS degree in Accounting or Finance with 3-5 years experience
