TELECOM ANALYST/ENGINEER 2

JOB FUNCTION:
Responsible for the design and implementation of network features and configurations in more complex networks (WAN-Data/PBX-Voice).? Assist senior level telecommunications personnel on large complex networks (WAN-Data/PBX-Voice).? Provides second and third level support to NCC analyst when troubleshooting the more complex operational telecommunication problems with one or more technical areas within the telecommunication function (such as, but not limited to, network design, engineering, implementation, operations and user support of the Wan and Voice networks).

REGULAR DUTIES:
? Responsible for the design, implementation and project management of network features and configuration of more complex networks (WAN-Data/PBX-Voice).? Assist senior/consulting telecommunications personnel on large or complex networks (WAN-Data/PBX-Voice).? Provides second and third level support to NCC analyst when troubleshooting the more complex operational telecommunication problems with one or more technical areas within the telecommunication function (such as, but not limited to, network design, engineering, implementation, operations and user support of the WAN and Voice networks).

? Conducts studies such as, but not limited to, transaction volumes, response times, availability, pricing installation time frames, service options, product spec, speed of operation, tytpe of protocol of the telecommunications system(s).? Identifies telecommunications requirements based on band width, desired traffic volume, speed and cost; recommends, designs, implements, and tests more efficient approaches to telecommunications Data and Voice networks.

? Recommending and designing enhancements to the Data and Voice networks of the assigned area(s); preparing detailed specifications.

? Keeps informed of the latest developments in telecommunications software, hardware, and systems.

? Second and third level support for NCC analyst in the operation of monitoring equipment to ensure effective troubleshooting and proactive analysis.

? Second and third level support for NCC analyst, NOA and Timeplex coordinators to ensure concerted effort is being placed on root cause analysis for LAN/WAN/Voice outages.

? Recommend to System Support Manager improvements in hardware or software needed to maintain reliable WAN/Voice systems.

? Provide informal training to the NCC on WAN/Voice job related topics.

? Second and third level support in assisting TNOA I/II, NOA I/II and NCC in acting as a liaison between third party vendors, i.e., Timeplex, telephone companies, and various other providers.

? Provide WAN and Voice support during and after business hours.

? Responsible for the project management of projects assigned.? Also responsible for assigning related tasks to lower/peer/senior/ consulting level(s) telecommunications personnel. Follow up, ensuring target dates on tasks are met as well as ensuring the whole project implementation is on schedule.

? Other duties as assigned.


Required Skills:
REQUIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
? College degree in related field or equivalent technical training experience, supplemented with continuing education network/telecommunication courses/technical seminars.
? 6-8 years technical telecommunications experience.
? 2-4 years experience in project management.

REQUIRED SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE:
? Knowledge of complex telecommunications technology and systems.
? Knowledge of operating environments and the related components.
? Knowledge of the capacity and performance capabilities of the various system components.
? Knowledge of network diagnostic and performance measurement tools and aids.
? Knowledge of network protocols.
? Interpret data transmission line conditions.
? Understanding of PC based word processing and spreadsheet software.
? Understanding of PC/CRT applications.
Note:? Must have experience with Nortel PBX, Symposium 5.0 & Web Client, ACD's, and Crystal Reports.
