UNDERWRITER LEAD, BUS LOAN CTR

Job Description

 

Essential Functions

As an SBA underwriter, the employee will analyze, underwrite and decision servicing actions, and on occasion, new loan requests in the SBA portfolio of Business Banking.

 

The position will focus on servicing actions, preparation of case studies for Asset Quality Review Meetings (AQR), preparation of case studies for Asset Recovery Roundtables, renewal and term-out of matured/maturing lines of credit, and downgrade/upgrade of SBA guaranteed loans.

 

The position requires the employee to perform all underwriting and credit assessment necessary to the management of the SBA loan portfolio.

 

Duties include, but are not limited to:

-underwriting servicing actions

-upgrade/downgrade of loans

-renewals of lines of credit

-loan restructures

-soft work outs of  problem loans.

 

Marginal Functions

This position requires interaction with 4 major divisions of the KeyBank:

-Communicating KeyBank and SBA policy and procedures to relationship managers in the field

-Collaborating with  Asset Recovery  personnel as to soft work outs of problems loans

-Collaborating with the Collection Group relative to strategies for collecting past due loans

-Cooperation with the Loan Services Group relative to documenting deferment and other restructure issues

 

Required Skills

THIS POSITION WILL BE 'GRADED' ACCORDING TO THE EXPERIENCE LEVEL OF THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE.

 

-Minimum 3 years of commercial credit experience in either credit administration or line lending. 

-Bachelors degree in a finance related major. 

-Experience analyzing financial statements and trends

-Ability to suggest alternative structures and strategies to insure repayment of debt.

-Solid experience in negotiating credit terms and structure 

-Good communication skills 

-Fundamental knowledge of commercial loan documentation.

-Ability to remain flexible and to assume duties as required

-Professional demeanor

 

Preferred Skills

-Working knowledge of the following resources for purpose of credit analysis

-Proper grading of commercial loans

-Relationship management experience dealing with commercial clients

-Knowledge of SBA 7(a) programs and underwriting

-RMW Monitor

A variety of credit analysis and courses relative to problem loan resolution are available on an ongoing basis.
