Underwriter I

This position independently conducts full and comprehensive evaluations of a variety of complex mortgage loan applications. Responsibilities include applying specialized knowledge to interpret applicable internal and regulatory underwriting guidelines, assessing all variables and determining conditions for loan approvals or denials to make final underwriting decisions. Key functions will also include identifying and recommending alternative financing solutions. Other duties will include educating brokers and bankers on a variety of Countrywide products, programs and loan/pricing alternatives, in addition to providing guidance and expertise to less experienced personnel on underwriting issues.

Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 3+ years of underwriting experience.
- Multiple underwriting designations.
- In-depth knowledge of a variety of loan products and program guidelines.
- Advanced computer and customer interface skills.
- Strong analytic, interpersonal and verbal/written communication skills.
