Unit Risk Manager

Position Overview: The Unit Risk Manager is responsible for ensuring that all risk management and compliance practices applicable to a specific or multiple units within the business division are implemented, tested, and adhered to. Serves as the advisor to ensure that the Business Unit Management is proactive in the Risk Management arena and in turn, holding all leaders and employees in the Business Unit accountable to appropriate Risk standards. Performs as a liaison between Risk Management and the Business Unit to ensure that the appropriate regulatory and internal risk management requirements are current and that there are effective controls to prevent losses, financial reporting errors, and regulatory violations in accordance with all risk tolerances established by the Board of Directors. Ensures that all employees within the division receive the appropriate risk training to fulfill their responsibilities. May also manage other departmental employees who are responsible for Risk Policy, Risk Processes, Procedures and Reporting, and/or Project Management.



Core Responsibilities:


Determines and documents key business processes along with necessary key risk management sub-processes and monitor for necessary changes along with changes in the regulatory environment.
Ensures that appropriate risk tolerances, processes, procedures, and controls are established and documented prior to the introduction of any new products within the business unit.
Responsible for ensuring that changes to existing products are documented, tested, and validated to ensure adherence to establish risk practices for the business unit.
Monitors the risk tolerance level for each product/process within the business unit.
Remediate any deficiencies that are identified in a timely manner.
Assures that policies for the business unit are current, approved by the Board and periodically reviewed to assure they are consistent with desired practices.
Documents internal controls that consider the key risks in the business as well as risk to financial reporting (SOX), fraud, operating losses, compliance, privacy and security.
Leads corrective action for any deficiencies identified by SOX, Audit, CAD, Compliance, Security, Loan Review or by regulatory agencies.
Ensures that the Vendor Management program is implemented and adhered to within the specific business unit(s).
Conducts assessments of the business practices for all units within the division.
Coordinates with Employee Development to develop appropriate learning methodology concurrent with any new or modified product/service introduction to ensure that all employees within the unit are knowledgeable in appropriate risk training to fulfill their responsibilities.
Ensures that appropriate Risk Management policies, procedures, processes, and standards are incorporated into daily assignments and work flow processes and is responsible for maintaining high levels of awareness as related to the Bank?s Risk Management policy.
Attends internal/external conferences, training, conventions, meetings, etc. to develop professional expertise and maintain professional contacts.
