VP / SVP Accounting Analysis

VP / SVP Accounting Analysis

 

Our client, a global ratings agency, is seeking an experienced and accomplished professional with advanced knowledge of complex technical accounting issues to join the Financial Institutions Group. The Financial Institutions Group is respnsibel for provding credt ratings opinions for publically traded financial institutions and structured products. The VP / SVP Accounting Analysis is responsible for providing timely and thoughtful opinions and analysis regarding critical accounting methodology and financial reporting issues that influence the firm?s rating opinions, target issuers, and industry groups.

 

Responsibilities are as follows:

 Participate in rating committees for target issuers and provide opinion and analysis about critical financial reporting issues influencing our rating opinion and ensure complete review and analysis of financial reporting available from the issuer.Publish high quality accounting research discussing the credit implications of hot issues related to financial reporting developments and provide insightful written observations for lead analysts about financial reporting issues influencing credit opinions.Prepare memoranda on new or existing accounting issues for reference by credit ratings teams with analytical commentary and develop useful reference tools for ratings teams on accounting and regulatory matters. Interface with members of other standing committees and specialist teams to ensure consistency and quality of credit policy.Attend issuer conferences and report on critical financial reporting developments affecting specific industries.Work with external consultants to develop and coordinate team and group training sessions on financial reporting developments and current issues for firm?s credit analystInterface regularly with accounting standards setting organizations (FASB, AcSEC, IASB) and stay up to date on developments in financial reporting and publish commentary and reports for internal reference to keep analysts abreast of developments in financial reporting.

 

Qualifications: 10+ years professional experience in public accounting (or a combination of private industry or government and public accounting) with a thorough understanding of current trends in financial analysis and accounting and a in depth knowledge of complex technical accounting issues (ie: FAS 133, FAS 140, Fin 46 etc.) . The successful candidate will have the ability to write/publish regularly and present before professional audiences. MBA or CFA preferred.CPA required.
