Job Description: The successful candidate will possess a strong background in biomaterials, cell biology, histology, and Implantable Medical Device design and healing responses with emphasis in surface science, biocompatible coatings, and biocompatibility testing using cell cultures. Candidate will identify and develop coatings and surface chemistries for implanted devices to optimize vascular compatibility and examine cellular responses using cell cultures.
1) Contribute to the understanding and develop strategies the properties of implant surfaces for vascular compatibility and healing of implantable medical devices.
2) Establish Cell Culture test protocols and conduct bioassay analysis on implant biomaterials.
3) Conduct feasibility experiments for biocompatibility response to external stimuli using cell cultures and blood interaction.
4) Identify and develop coating technology for implant devices.
5) Collaborate with internal and external surface modification engineers/scientists to develop implant surface finishes and chemistries.
6) Characterize the implant surfaces using surface science techniques and correlate with invitro and invivo responses.
7) Contribute to the design of Implanted cardiovascular medical devices.
Requirements:
Advanced degree in biomaterials or engineering discipline with strength in polymers, histology, and cellular healing response.
Ph.D. or postdoc plus 10 years experience in industry
