Assistant Chemist

Login and receipt of routine/non-routine samples and associated paperwork for testing.  Performs pH measurement, Protein determination by Biuret Method, Sodium by AA,  Chloride measurement, and product Identity testing.  Tests In-Process, Finished Product, and other process stage samples on a routine basis.  Communicates with Production personnel as needed for transmission of In-Process chemistry testing results.  Strong team player skills, ability to multi-task with testing duties, sharp attention to detail and the ability to work well in a busy GMP regulated laboratory setting.  In addition, the newly hired chemist will be expected to clean and restock glassware and perform various housekeeping tasks on a daily basis.

Perform normal release testing while experienced lab personnel assist QO/SC Analytical Support in transfer of new methods and validation / qualification of existing methods for AT-III samples and train QO/SC Chemistry personnel in revised and/or new methods.  AT-III project support testing (process characterization, process validation, qualification batches, and routine production batch testing opportunities may arise depending on job performance and level of self-motivation.


BS in chemistry, biochemistry, biology or related field and at least 1 year of chemistry lab experience - preferably in the biotech or pharmaceutical industry.  Prefer experience with HPLC, AA, pH and protein determination.

 

This is a long-term contract position for a fantastic pharmaceutical company located in Clayton, NC and includes 9 paid holidays every year and 40 hours of vacation time during the 1st year and 80 hours every year after that!
