Associate Chemist - Sample Purification and Preparation

Successful Associate Scientists will work as Sample Purification and Preparation Chemists within the Synthesis & Supporting Technologies group. Our group is part of a vibrant and growing interdisciplinary site, newly established in Boston in 2004. Group members will be expected to contribute intellectually and to help drive the process toward the discovery of novel, clinical therapeutics. Working closely with their laboratory manager and in collaboration with colleagues in Medicinal Chemistry, Associate Scientists will help to purify new sets of compounds via mass-triggered preparative HPLC, SFC, and chiral HPLC, and to prepare, register and track solutions of the purified materials for biological assay. They will also assist in maintaining and troubleshooting deployed purification systems throughout the Drug Design & Optimization department. This position requires the mastery of techniques associated with modern laboratory analysis, purification and characterization of organic compounds and sincere dedication to scientific rigor.

Candidates must have a B.S. or M.S. degree in Chemistry or a related field and a minimum of two years direct experience with high-throughput purification and characterization of small molecules. Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills are required along with relevant research experience within academia and/or the pharmaceutical/biotech industry. Familiarity with modern liquid-handling robotics and/or automation engineering is a plus. Successful Associate Scientists need to function effectively within multidisciplinary teams and possess outstanding communication skills.
