Associate Director

Description: The Associate Director is responsible for oversight of vivarium operations and overall animal husbandry within the vivarium. The Associate Director is to provide a program and maintain the animal facilities in compliance with all applicable laws and guidelines and in line with service needs for the research community. The position is responsible for all aspects of managing personnel, applicable SOPs, and strategic planning for provision of Comparative Medicine (CM) services including provision of husbandry, assignment of facility space, provision of in-vivo support roles, and maintenance of facility systems and equipment. The Associate Director assists in establishing Service Level Agreements (SLAs) with customer lines. The Associate Director contributes to CM's annual budget projections, and monitoring of expenditures within the Animal Care area. The individual will lead and/or participate in teams and establish and/or serve on committees involved with facilities maintenance, design, renovation, operations, and safety as necessary to fulfill the need for vivarium management input. The incumbent serves as a contributing member of the Ann Arbor Comparative Medicine Leadership Team (CMLT).

Qualifications:
EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree in science field and AALAS Technologist certification or equivalents. Certification in LAMA or an advanced business degree is desired.

EXPERIENCE: Five to ten years animal care supervisory/managerial experience in a large diverse, research institution is preferred.
