Associate Director, TA Scientific Information Services

Description: The purpose of this position is to manage a team responsible for 1) ensuring the Therapeutic Area (TA) teams have integrated & seamless access to scientific data & information, & the human health community is deriving the maximum value from it, and 2) providing project team support for supplemental NDA activity.

This group will focus on the integration of scientific information, blending the skills, techniques & tools from information sciences & TA services, while leveraging internal & external data sources.

Primary duties will include:
. Aligning with the global vision for this group - help staff understand & live the new mission set out by PGRD Informatics to achieve optimal information flow thru the Research, Development, & Commercial TA continuum
. Customer relationship management with the Worldwide Development (WWD) TA business clients at the NY Site
. People management & talent development
. Coaching and developing functional and technical experts within the group
. Developing functional & industry expertise
. Helping others solve complex problems in their area of technical expertise
. Building relationships in the emerging human health organization
. Managing multiple projects of moderate complexity
. Managing a budget and the portfolio of services running within the group

Qualifications:
QUALIFICATIONS SOUGHT:
1. EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND:
MINIMUM: BS or equivalent in Computer Science, Information Science, Business Administration, Engineering, or related field.
DESIRABLE: Masters degree/MBA

2. WORK EXPERIENCE/SKILLS:
MINIMUM:
. 5 years progressive experience in managing business change through technology
. 5 years demonstrated success in directing delivery of new technologies for large scale global applications across multiple hardware and software platforms, with demonstrated competency in:
o Managing teams to strategic delivery of IT solutions
o Leading project managers during all phases of development
o Managing financial resources to meet goals across multiple projects
o Strategic thinking, leadership and relationship management in pharmaceutical industry
o International and cross divisional partnerships with senior business leaders

DESIRABLE:
. 3 Pharmaceutical systems
. Experience with reporting systems in a clinical trial setting

OTHER ATTRIBUTES DESIRABLE:
Candidates must demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills with a strong emphasis on partnering with business executives and high integrity communication with all levels of staff. They must take personal responsibility for the career development of direct reports and they must possess strong mentorship and coaching for all staff. They must be able to lead delivery programs made up of Pfizer staff, consultants and software vendors globally. Candidates must also have a history of exercising good business judgment in developing plans and strategies for life sciences solutions. Qualified candidates are required to travel to remote Pfizer sites, LaJolla, Ann Arbor, Sandwich, Japan, and other locations to ensure strategic alignment of global delivery. Additional travel to FDA, DIA, PhRMA and other industry forums may also be required.
