Associate Scientist - Media Formulation

Phyton Biotech, an innovator in the use of plant cell culture technology for the production of pharmaceuticals, is looking for an Associate Scientist in Media Development.

 

 

 

 

GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES

 

Schedule, prioritize, and supervise media production.  Prepare routine and complex media/chemical formulations. Dispense media as required by R&D

 Supervise and Prepare Routinely Used Media

? Prepare media, media stocks, additives, supplements and feed solutions for R&D.

? Follow existing protocols, fill out batch records and document all other preparations.

? Maintain all standing orders and shelf inventories of ready-to-use media. Update standing orders as needed. Insure out-of-date media is promptly discarded.

? Maintain an inventory of supplies and chemicals

? Prioritize and fill orders as needed.

 Preparation of Research Materials

? Prepare complex research media.

? Prepare complex chemical and biochemical additives to support ongoing research activities.

? Continue to expand knowledge of the chemicals and chemistry relevant to plant cell culture. Reduce this knowledge to practice.

 Other responsibilities

? Interview, train, and supervise technicians.

? Maintain MSDS files.

? Track chemical P.O.?s and lot numbers.

? Calibrate and maintain relevant laboratory equipment.

? Monitor contamination events and correlate with possible causes.

? Additional duties may be assigned from time to time

 

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum:

 

? Bachelor?s degree from a four-year college, preferably with one to two years experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience

? Degree in Chemistry-related Science field with a Formulation background preferred

? Experience with media production and making complex liquid solutions

? Experience aseptic/sterile techniques

? Strong customer services and interpersonal skills
