BIOMED. ENGINEERING TECH.
The B.MET will work closely with engineers and orthopaedic surgeons on improvements of materials and design issues focusing on joint implants, specifically in the knee and spine. The laboratory is a focal point in the orthopaedics research community for development of new materials and test methods for total joint replacements. The major job responsibility will be 1) to prepare chemical formulations of polymers, 2) set up, operate, and maintain characterization equipment (such as FTIR, DSC, TGA, etc), 3) monitor experiments, 4) make observations and record results and 5) analyze and report data. This job will involve working with ex vivo animal and human models.
