Position Summary:

 

Alba Therapeutics has multiple positions for motivated biologists in the drug discovery group.  A strong background in basic biology, assay development and drug discovery is required as well as high proficiency in cell biology and molecular biology techniques.

 

Essential Functions/Responsibilities:

 

?  Validate novel targets for autoimmune diseases.

?  Design and execute experimental approaches to screen for lead compounds.

?  Plan and build binding and functional assays to screen for lead compounds against validated novel autoimmune targets.

?  Design and execute experiments to characterize mechanism of action of lead compounds.

?  Perform studies in biochemistry, cell biology and immunology to profile lead compounds.

?  Coordinate activities with contract research organizations with a resulting contribution to advancing projects.

 

Requirements:

 

?  BS, MS or PhD in Biology, or equivalent.

?  3-5 years industrial or academic hands-on experience in the general areas of molecular biology or cell biology techniques including cloning, plasmid purification, PCR, RNA isolation, qRT-PCR, electrophoresis, preparation of cell lysates, Western, immunoprecipitation, ELISA, protein expression, purification and quantitation.  Experience with cDNA library construction and screening highly desirable.

?  Strong  tissue culture experience including routine maintenance of mammalian cell lines, transfections, reporter assays.

?  Experience with assay development, routine testing of compounds in various assays for SAR and selection of lead compounds, data analysis and reporting of the data.

?  Demonstrated expertise in quantitative and qualitative data analysis, and an understanding of structure-activity relationship studies.
