Project Manager Lab Automation will be responsible for the co-ordination of the laboratory Automation projects in the Americas region, for the Clinical Chemistry franchise. They also will provide sales support to define the scope of the individual projects. On a Americas scale the candidate will consolidate all the individual projects and together with the European counterpart and the R & D group will integrate these projects in the global planning. For complex installations of laboratory automation projects, the incumbent will deliver project management support and will develop install plans together with the local support people to ensure efficient and timely implementation to achieve customers’ expectations. Together with the software change control and software release coordinator, the incumbent will be monitoring the different software releases and identifies via a Risk Assessment the additional test cases to ensure safely release of the software. With marketing and sales, the incumbent will identify data management software rationalization opportunities, with the objective to reduce costs and increase product and support quality. In this position the incumbent must be able to operate with a low level of supervision and possess the ability to utilize own judgment and decision making skills, typically while in front of customers in line with good business practice and the requirements of a quality system. Good communication and team-working skills are vital components of the job as the principal duties and responsibilities of the incumbent will involve dealing with different work groups within the company (e.g. Sales, Marketing, Service) and also external organizations such as suppliers and Distributors.Liaise with other groups within the CTS organization is required to ensure that the above is achieved. Project Management, 30 % Product Requirement Review, 30% Product rationalization activities, 10% Training (Identifying training needs), 20% Documentation 10%The candidate will interact with Sales & Marketing (Marketing Director/Product managers/ Sales Specialists/ Sales Managers/Directors)Work in conjunction with the relevant personnel to identify the software and system requirements, product change requests, and highlight rationalization opportunities. To meet the requirements of our internal customers needsLocal Customer Technical Services organizationsCoordinate with Area Service managers on software and system integration support needs, ensuring contractual obligations and requirements agreed with customers are met to ensure customer satisfaction.SASI groupWithin the Software, Automation and system integration group, work close together with the team to identify, improve and deliver professional support.Outside the company:Customers (Americas)Together with the local organization, ensure that contractual obligations and requirements agreed with the customers are met.To monitor whether the agreed conditions are met and where obvious that they will not be met either obtain customer agreement to amend or escalate as appropriate.Distributors Liaise with Distributors Support Managers when appropriate to organize and deliver required support to meet their customer needs, this in cooperation with the Export Sales Managers and Area Service Managers.Outside SuppliersLiaise on technical issues for more information etc. as required. (Obtain necessary information in a timely manner to ensure customer satisfaction)
Academic/Professional Qualifications/Technical Skills
BS degree in engineering or clinical chemistry fields is required.
In addition, a solid technical background and good understanding instruments and software and a good working knowledge of project management tools such as MS Project. Good understanding of the customer’s needs and requirements based on servicing and supporting customers in this environment for several years.
Good verbal, non- verbal and written communication skills are required. Knowledge of other languages would be an advantage.
Ability to work in a team is important. Tact and diplomacy are often required when dealing with customers and colleagues. Ability to gain co-operation and consensus within both own and between work groups including external agencies is important. To confidently handle objections and provide alternatives to customers and colleagues is also important. Knowledge of the company, organisation and Management of the Health Services and Laboratories is required. Knowledge of the competition and ability to compare and contrast their products with OCD products is an advantage.
