Unigen Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (www.UnigenPharma.com) is a leading natural products research and development company and proprietary ingredients supplier.  The company is dedicated to the discovery of botanically derived therapeutic compounds and bioactive dietary supplements that address consumer health needs and help improve the quality of human life.  We are seeking six highly qualified & motivated individuals with an ability to perform rigorous science in the areas of natural products, organic chemistry and related fields.

 

POSITION 1: NATURAL PRODUCT CHEMIST (Code: NPC)

You will work in a multidisciplinary team responsible for extraction, isolation, de-replication, purification and identification of novel natural compounds by following protein/gene and cell based high throughput assays. You will apply state-of-art technologies, such as High Throughput Purification System, LC/PDA/MS/MS to generate a compound library, and maintain a Bioinformatic database, which possesses thousands of herbal specimens, extracts, fractions and compounds.  Requirements include a Ph.D. in Natural Product Chemistry with at least two years post-graduate bioassay directed drug discovery experience. A background in chromatographic separation (HPLC, LC/MS/MS, GC/MS) and structural elucidation with spectroscopic techniques (NMR and MS) is essential. A broad knowledge of Biochemistry, Analytical Chemistry and Computer Science is required. Also must be a team player with strong communication and independent research ability.

 

POSITION 2: NATURAL PRODUCT RESEARCH ASSISTANT ( Code: NPRA)

You will work in the natural product department responsible for plant grinding, extraction, plant and extract library maintenance, assay sample preparation, bioassay guided isolation and purification.  Requirements include a B.S. or M.S. degree in Chemistry/Biology major with 0 to 2 years of laboratory experience. A broad knowledge of basic chemistry theory and computer software is essential. A background in chromatographic separation (LC, TLC, HPLC) and spectroscopic techniques (UV/VIS, FT-IR, NMR and MS) is desirable.

 

POSITION 3: ORGANIC SYNTHETIC CHEMIST (Code: OSC)

You will be responsible for design and synthesis of commercially valuable organic compounds and their derivatives at laboratory scales, separate, identify and elucidate organic molecules based on physical and chemical properties, submit synthetic derivatives for biological assays, interpret and use biological data to design and synthesis of improved molecules suitable for pharmaceutical or cosmetic use. Ph.D. in Organic synthesis is required with minimum of one-year postdoctoral research experience in organic synthesis of complex organic molecules. Sound knowledge of modern organic synthetic methods is required. Experience in modern spectroscopic, separation and synthetic methods related to organic molecules. Experience in solid phase synthesis, combinatorial library synthesis and molecular modeling of organic molecules preferred. Previous experience to bio-chemistry is a plus. Good communication skills are required for this position.

 

POSITION 4: ORGANIC RESEARCH ASSISTANT (Code: ORA)

You will synthesize organic molecules and their derivatives suitable for pharmaceutical or cosmetic industry. Duties include design of synthetic steps for organic molecules and characterization of synthesized organic molecules using modern spectroscopic methods. Need B.S. in chemistry with minimum three years experience in organic synthesis or M.S. in organic synthesis with one-year post master experience in organic synthesis. Experience in modern synthetic methods, separation techniques and spectroscopic identification methods, related to organic molecules, is required.

 



POSITION 5: BioAssay Scientist  (Code: BAS)

You will work in a multidisciplinary team responsible for high throughput assay development and validation.  You will apply HTS technologies -to screening extracts, fractions and compounds with natural and synthetic origins. Candidate must possess a PhD in biochemistry with minimal three years research experience in assay development.  A broad knowledge of a variety of biochemical, enzyme, and receptor-based assays is required.  Experience in high throughput screening technology, such as TR-FRET based assays, assay miniaturization and lab automation, is desirable. In addition, knowledge of lead optimization and data management systems is a plus. Must be detail-oriented, a team player with strong communication skills and independent problem solving ability.

 

POSITION 6: Veterinary Research Assistant

You will work in a team responsible for various in vivo studies to test efficacy and safety of natural products.  Your responsibility includes all aspects of lab animal husbandry and studies of bioactive natural compounds using in vivo models. Candidate must have experience or training in veterinary techniques and humane use of animals in experimentation with a BS/MS and at least 1-year experience in animal care facilities or related settings.  Irregular weekend shift is required for this position (typically 2 to 3 hours on Saturday and Sunday when necessary).  Knowledge of USDA regulations and IACUC procedures is a plus. Candidate must have the ability to work independently and as a team player. Must be detail-oriented person with strong communication skills and independent problem solving ability.
