Clinical Engineer
RESPONSIBILITY AND AUTHORITY
This position is responsible for providing clinical and technical support related to VNS Therapy. This position supports and answers questions from medical professionals and Cyberonics employees and may include limited patient contact. Travel is required as necessary for field based technical support, i.e. supporting symposiums and providing training to physicians, sales representatives and other medical professionals. This posistion will also assist in the training of Cyberonics employees.
This position is authorized for financial expenditures/commitment levels as defined by the Cyberonics, Inc. Expenditures/Commitments Policy.
PRIMARY ACTIVITIES
Technical Support:
? Provides support as needed for surgeries and troubleshooting issues during normal business hours and on a rotating on call schedule for evenings and weekends.
? Provides answers relating to clinical indications, contraindications, warnings and general clinical or technical guidance as related to VNS Therapy.
? Researches solutions to questions or problems (e.g., VNS Therapy system questions, product selection issues) and provides answers according to labeling and clinical or technical data when available.
? Follow procedures within Clinical and Medical Affairs.
Training and Educational Support:
? Primary Focus is on Prescribing Physicians and support staff
? Educate and train physicians and supporting personnel on clinical or technical issues relating to Cyberonics products by conducting and/or coordinating:
o One-on-one training sessions
o In-service education programs
o Seminars and/or outside symposiums
? Provides Implanation Support to Sales and Marketing, Clinical and Medical Affairs, and others as necessary.
o Completes necessary documentation (e.g., implant registration and case summary reports.)
o Secures purchase orders for field stock product as needed
? Document implantation concerns, troubleshooting issues, re-training needs, and any other issues and report findings or observations to sales representatives and Product Performance
? Serves as effective Cyberonics representative to physicians and support staff regarding Cyberonics products, service and support
? Maintains current knowledge regarding VNS Therapy programs, products and services
? Maintains open, effective communication with personnel, customers and other Cyberonics employees.
? Verifies training for all physicians and authorizes delivery of programming equipment
? Identifies training needs for physicians and Therapeutic Consultants
ADDITIONAL ACTIVITIES
? Performs other duties as may be required by supervisor
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS
? This position will require moderate business travel of 20% or more
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS
? Current RN licensure or Bachelors in Biomedical related field
? Excellent communications skills including written, verbal and telephone
? Recent clinical nursing or biomedical experience
? Proficient in MS Office software
DESIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
? Engineer with user interface, biomedical engineering or bioengineering experience
? BSN with Intensive Care neurology, neurosurgery, epilepsy, ER experience
? Project Management experience
? Presentation Development and delivery experience
? Training Protocol Development and delivery experience
